On 20 August 2013, in a speech at the annual conference of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (“AMO”), the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced that the Provincial Government intends to launch two consultation processes in the Fall for municipalities, community groups and stakeholders to provide feedback regarding the following:
- Ontario’s land use planning system and decision-making process, including the process for land use planning appeals at the Ontario Municipal Board; and
- Municipal development-related fees and charges such as development charges (under the Development Charges Act) and Section 37 agreements and parkland dedications (under the Planning Act).
The Minster’s speech can be read on AMO’s website (see pages 10-12 regarding the above consultations). The Ontario Home Builder’s Association's response to the Minster’s announcement of the consultations is provided in a Media Release.
