Affordable Housing Legislation Moves to Standing Committee on Social Policy

Nov 17, 2016

On November 1, 2016, the Legislature referred Bill 7, the Promoting Affordable Housing Act, 2016 to the Standing Committee on Social Policy after 9 rounds of debate at Second Reading. The Province introduced the Promoting Affordable Housing Act, 2016 (the "Act") [available here] to increase access to affordable housing in Ontario. If passed, the Act would amend the Planning Act, the Development Charges Act, the Housing Services Act and the Residential Tenancies Act and repeal the Elderly Persons’ Housing Aid Act.
